Samara Foundation NPC
Parceval works with the non-profit organisation, Samara Foundation, to ensure that benefits flow back down the supply chain into harvesting communities. Samara focuses on immediate needs as well as developing the potential held within a community and its individuals, bringing new opportunities and points of connection.
The Parceval People’s Trust
In 2011 Parceval sold 25.1% of its shares to the Parceval People’s Trust. All employees are beneficiaries of this trust and therefore stakeholders in the company, allowing them to have a say in decision making and thus have a direct impact on the future success of Parceval.

Parceval is committed to environmental sustainability in all its practices and preserving Africa’s biodiversity.
Sustainable Wild Harvests
Parceval is committed to sustainable wild harvesting and requires suppliers to provide documentation on delivery to ensure transparency. Parceval also ensures that the suppliers and harvesters have the required harvesting and bio-prospecting permits.
Organic Cultivation
Our farm, Waterkloof, is organically certified and organic farming as well as biodynamic farming principles have been used since it was first purchased in 1994. More than half the farm has been left uncultivated, so as to preserve the Fynbos uniquely endemic to the Western Cape.
Nagoya Protocol Compliance
Parceval complies with local regulations that have put in place since the adoption of the Nagoya Protocol. Parceval has several bio-prospecting permits with accompanying benefit sharing agreements in place and is an industry-representative on the Bio-prospecting Forum.

Parceval manufactures to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards where the focus is on quality, transparency, traceability and safety. Our understanding of this regulatory framework also means we can guide others in reaching these standards.
Local policy development and participation
Parceval has a longstanding relationship with South Africa’s regulatory authorities and is recognised as an industry representative. Parceval is part of the Bio-prospecting Forum, helping to formulate workable policies for trade in biological resources.
Transparent supply chains in Africa’
We have worked in South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Kenya, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Ghana, Nigeria and Somaliland in establishing sustainable, regulatory-compliant and transparent supply chains. In many cases we assist with training and skills-transfer.
